Ningbo coffee shop blends rural and modern
Fragrance of full-bodied roasted coffee pervaded from a quaint stone-structured cabin in Maoli village of Cicheng town in Ningbo, where it houses German barista Frank Sterzer's village cafe, "Bamboo Coffee".
Frank came to the village in 2022, having eyed the scenic location for its convenient transportation and infrastructure.
In early 2023, Frank began to build the Bamboo Coffee, with the name of his cafe derived from the local Moso bamboo. He perceived the cafe as a platform for attracting visitors from across the country. Many of his designs for the cafe are highly related to elements from the surrounding area.
The cafe is crowded during summer. If you look inside, you might see Frank busy making coffee, talking to customers, promoting his coffee beans, and sharing his experience of living in this beautiful and tranquil village.
