Ningbo in Zhejiang province has released its government work report for 2025 during the city's "two sessions" or the annual meetings of the local legislature, outlining ambitious goals and priorities aimed at boosting the city's economy, innovation, and quality of life.

For 2025, the city's GDP growth target is set at over 5.5 percent, with fixed asset investment expected to increase by 5.5 percent and retail sales projected to rise by 6 percent. The government aims to synchronize rising incomes with economic development, with a focus on boosting both consumption and investment.

The report emphasizes the importance of integrating education, technology, and talent development. Key efforts will include fostering innovation, upgrading industrial capabilities, and strengthening emerging sectors, which are seen as vital for the city's long-term economic growth.

Ningbo will continue to expand its international trade presence and maintain its significant share in foreign trade. The city's openness to global markets will be a major aspect of its economic development strategy, along with deeper integration into the global economy.

The city will also focus on narrowing wage gaps and promoting balanced regional development. Strengthening public safety, improving governance, and enhancing community well-being are also critical priorities.

Environmental sustainability is another key area. Ningbo plans to improve energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and meet provincial ecological targets. Investments in green energy and technologies are expected to continue in 2025.

The report also mentions the city's efforts in social governance, including further development of public services, infrastructure, and cultural initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.

With these initiatives, Ningbo aims to achieve steady economic growth and social development throughout 2025.
