"We're seeing more than 20 vessel movements a day, with over 30,000 containers of 'Made in China' goods heading overseas daily," said Han Feifei, an official of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port's Meishan area.

In March alone, container throughput of the Meishan area hit 1.05 million TEUs, up 13.9 percent year-on-year — a record for this time of year.

Just days ago, Jiaxing Port on Hangzhou Bay's northern shore received its first shipment of imported fruit — bananas from Vietnam. The port plans to expand into high-end agricultural imports, including South American meats and Russian king crab, aiming to become a key hub for agricultural and aquatic product distribution in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, the world's largest by cargo volume, is also innovating to stay ahead. In the first quarter of 2025, it handled 10.07 million TEUs, up 10.2 percent year-on-year. Export growth to Europe, the Middle East, South America, and Southeast Asia led the charge, with each region gaining market share.

To support global expansion by Ningbo-based firms, Ningbo Customs authorities are enhancing the China-CEEC Customs Information Center. The platform is expanding services in communication, consulting, and risk monitoring to deepen ties with Central and Eastern European countries.
