China's tourism sector continues to thrive, with visa-free entry numbers at Ningbo Lishe International Airport soaring. On May 19, China celebrated its 15th China Tourism Day. That was the same day that Australian traveler Browne Jemma arrived at Ningbo airport, benefitting from streamlined visa-free procedures.
Since the beginning of this year, Ningbo airport has received over 30,000 foreign travelers, marking a 90 percent increase compared to last year. More than 6,000 visitors entered visa-free — a staggering 341 percent year-on-year growth.
The surge is linked to China's enhanced visa policies, including its 240-hour transit visa exemption and unilateral visa-free agreements, making travel to China more convenient.
To support this influx, Ningbo airport has introduced traveler-friendly measures such as bilingual signs, dedicated service desks, and self-service terminals for entry registration. Tian Yulu, deputy team leader of the Ningbo Airport Immigration Inspection Station, noted that these upgrades have strengthened the appeal of China as a travel destination.
