The vessel Haiyang Shiyou 302 recently completed a bonded liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operation for Pacific International Lines' dual-fuel container ship Cuicheng at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port’s Chuanshan Port Area, under the supervision of Ningbo Border Inspection officers.
By the end of May, the port had achieved an annual LNG bunkering volume of 106,000 cubic meters, surpassing the 100,000-cu-m milestone for the first time. This marks a significant advancement in the port's transition toward sustainable maritime fuel.
To improve efficiency, the Ningbo Border Inspection Station introduced a "dual-track inspection" model, allowing simultaneous document processing and onboard checks. This approach streamlines vessel berthing and departure, addressing storage capacity and scheduling challenges. Officers use electronic fencing and video surveillance to ensure smooth operations.
Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has also pioneered China's first biofuel bunkering mechanism for container ships and expanded high-sulfur biofuel services across its major terminals. The port is now actively advancing alternative marine fuels, including biofuels and green methanol, reinforcing its commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable shipping industry.
