As of June 23, Ningbo Zhoushan Port's container throughput had exceeded 20 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), setting a new half-year record 15 days earlier than in 2024.

This milestone underscores the port's resilience amid global trade shifts and highlights its progress in developing a smarter, greener logistics network.

As the world's largest port by cargo volume, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has strengthened its connections with global shipping companies and expanded logistics models, including the Sea-Rail Express and China-Europe Express. Routes such as Yiwu-Ningbo Zhoushan Port-Dubai and Anhui-Ningbo-Europe have enhanced the speed and reliability of cross-border trade.

The port currently operates 308 container routes and has handled 210 mega-vessels this year, solidifying its status as a global maritime hub. On land, the port utilizes its railway links to three major port areas, expanding sea-rail intermodal services to improve inland accessibility.

Smart port technologies are rapidly advancing, with new developments in automated vehicles, crane control, and inland vessel operations. Sustainability remains a top priority: Liquefied natural gas bunkering has surpassed 100,000 cubic meters, and a new wind-solar-storage project at Meishan Port Area has produced 26 million kilowatt hours of green electricity.

Significantly, the port's all-electric coastal vessel research and application project has been recognized among China's national demonstrations for advanced low-carbon technologies, moving toward zero-emission maritime transport.
