Ningbo appliances beat heat abroad

Cooling appliances made in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, are in high demand worldwide this summer.

From bladeless purifying fans and portable air conditioners to ice-making water dispensers, Ningbo's home appliance industry is exporting innovative products to Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa. These appliances combine advanced technology and enhanced user experience, highlighting the city's shift from low-cost manufacturing to high-quality, market-driven innovation.

In Cixi, a county-level city of Ningbo, Jiuyou Electric Appliance Co Ltd exported about 200,000 bladeless purifying fans from January to July. The fans combine nano-ion modules for air purification, DC motors, and 12 adjustable airflow levels, delivering quieter, energy-efficient operation while improving user experience.

"Even at the end of August, customers are still placing repeat orders," said Du Jianxun, the company's technical manager.

Ningbo Lonwe Environmental Technology Co Ltd is attracting attention with ice-making water dispensers capable of producing up to 18 kilograms of ice daily.

"We spent months developing a high-efficiency system that quickly makes ice and retains cold for long periods," said the company's chairman, He Shuibing. The dispensers have proven popular in the Middle East, South America, and Southeast Asia, with more than 20,000 units already shipped.

Across Ningbo, manufacturers are combining market insight with technological innovation. By focusing on energy efficiency, multifunctionality, and user experience, the city's home appliance industry is demonstrating resilience and strong international competitiveness.
