Ningbo Lishe International Airport saw record-breaking traffic during the 62-day summer travel season from July 1 to Aug 31, handling over 3.1 million passengers — an average of more than 50,000 per day, up 6.3 percent year-on-year. Flight movements at the airport also rose 2.1 percent, reaching 21,000.
Aug 16 set a single-day record with 55,500 passengers. Monthly traffic in August hit 1.59 million, surpassing July and setting a new peak for the airport.
Driven by strong demand for family and student travel, Ningbo airport worked with airlines to expand capacity and optimize routes. Domestic flights to summer hotspots like Changchun, Chengdu, Guiyang and Dalian were increased, with seasonal routes added to Turpan and Manzhouli. Northern cities like Dalian and Harbin saw rising interest in cooler escapes.
Internationally, the airport maintained its services to Tokyo, Osaka, Jeju, Nha Trang, Singapore, Budapest and more, while adding a new route to Hanoi and increasing Bangkok flights. Hong Kong, Macao and Osaka topped the list of outbound destinations.
Cross-border traffic totaled 209,000 passengers during the summer travel season, up 5.1 percent from last year. Foreign arrivals reached 5,997 — an all-time high.
