Ningbo's trade with Central and Eastern Europe surges in Q1-Q3

In Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, the city's trade with Central and Eastern European countries hit 45.45 billion yuan ($6.39 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, representing a 7 percent increase year-on-year, according to Ningbo Customs.

This growth rate is 3.3 percentage points higher than the city's overall foreign trade growth during the same period. The city's exports to Central and Eastern European countries totaled 37.84 billion yuan in the first three quarters, while imports reached 7.61 billion yuan.

Key trade partners included Poland, Slovakia, Greece, the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Slovenia, and Serbia. The China-Serbia Free Trade Agreement significantly boosted trade with Serbia, with a total trade volume reaching 1.49 billion yuan, a 17.7 percent year-on-year rise.

From January to September, electromechanical products dominated Ningbo's exports to these countries, with total exports valued at 25.02 billion yuan, a 14.7 percent increase. Green and low-carbon products like electric vehicles, photovoltaic products, and lithium batteries saw a total of 880 million yuan in exports, a 26.5 percent increase.

Ningbo's imports from Central and Eastern European countries remained strong. Imported products, including wine, beverages, and dairy products, were particularly popular. The imports of farm products exceeded 100 million yuan in the first three quarters of this year.
