Ningbo-based GravityXR Electronics and Technology unveiled G-X100, China's first full-function spatial computing mixed reality (MR) chip, on Nov 27, along with a full-stack solution for ecosystem partners.

GravityXR, incubated by Yongjiang Laboratory (Y-LAB), specializes in semiconductor design, algorithms, and end-to-end system solutions.

"This chip was designed specifically for spatial computing," said Wang Chaohong, founder of the company and director of Y-LAB's Advanced Display and Sensing Research Center. "We redefined core capabilities from the ground up to address the needs of MR devices, robotics, and intelligent systems."

Spatial computing processes spatial data to enable devices such as extended reality (XR) headsets, drones, robots, and virtual assistants to understand and interact with their environment. While the technology is rapidly advancing, current solutions often rely on general-purpose chips that cannot handle high-bandwidth sensor data, real-time 3D understanding, and ultra-low latency simultaneously.

Built using a 5-nanometer process, the G-X100 achieves a record-breaking end-to-end latency of just 9 milliseconds and consistently meets or exceeds global benchmarks across key performance metrics. Complementing the G-X100, GravityXR has introduced two supporting chips — the G-VX100 for artificial intelligence and the G-EB100 for augmented reality rendering — that together form a full-stack platform spanning from core computing to end-user applications.

"This combination of a dedicated chip and full-stack platform is a critical leap for China's spatial computing ecosystem," Wang added. The company aims to establish a domestic platform-level technology ecosystem and accelerate the next stage of industry growth.
