Ningbo Bonsai Garden has reopened, offering visitors a refreshed space to experience traditional bonsai art alongside classical Chinese garden design and urban leisure.

The garden's history stretches back centuries, with its origins tied to a historic Buddhist site. Over time, it evolved into a public park and later a dedicated bonsai garden. After years of careful planning and reconstruction, the new garden nearly doubled in size, opening a new chapter in the city's bonsai tradition.

Classical garden design guides the layout, with a central lake, winding bridges, corridors, and elegant pavilions creating a harmonious flow. Bonsai collections — including pines, camellias, junipers, and elm trees — are meticulously shaped to condense natural landscapes into miniature forms. Visitors can explore themed bonsai areas, exhibition halls, and workshops, where they can appreciate the intricate craftsmanship and refined beauty of each piece.

From Jan 31 to Feb 8, the garden will host a spring flower fair, featuring seasonal blooms, local Ningbo snacks, and Chinese New Year cultural activities.

According to local authorities, plans are underway to expand the bonsai collections and cultural programs, aiming to make Ningbo Bonsai Garden both a hub for bonsai art and a peaceful urban retreat, offering residents and visitors an immersive cultural and visual experience.
