Ningbo airport to open new inbound duty-free store

Ningbo Lishe International Airport has received approval to open a new inbound duty-free store, part of a nationwide initiative to add 41 such outlets at China's major ports of entry.

This will be the airport's first inbound duty-free facility, complementing its existing outbound store and expanding shopping options for international travelers.

Duty-free stores at ports of entry are located within the restricted zones of airports, seaports, or land crossings and sell tax-free goods to inbound passengers. The new store in Ningbo fills a long-standing gap and is expected to enhance convenience, boost consumption, and strengthen the city's global profile.

Tourism and duty-free retail are closely connected. In 2025, Ningbo Airport Customs supervised 1.07 million inbound and outbound passenger trips, the highest in six years. This surge in passenger traffic fueled strong growth at the outbound duty-free store, which recorded sales of 6.94 million yuan ($996,614.93), up 94.27 percent year-on-year. The new inbound store is expected to build on this momentum, offering travelers more shopping opportunities upon arrival.
