The Multilateral Partner Ports cooperation network was expanded on May 26 during the 2026 Multilateral Partner Ports Cooperation Conference held in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.

As a key event of the 10th Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum, the conference welcomed 10 new port institutions from Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas.

New members include the Kuwait Ports Authority, Greece's Heraklion Port Authority, Denmark's Port Esbjerg, Algeria's Arzew Port Authority, Cameroon's Kribi Port Authority, Morocco's Tanger Med Port, Angola's Cabinda Port Authority, the National Port Company of Nicaragua, Uruguay's National Port Administration and Brazil's Pecem Port.

With the latest additions, the cooperation network now covers 67 institutions in 43 countries and regions, further strengthening global maritime connectivity and collaboration.

The conference focused on sharing best practices and promoting cooperation among participating ports. Through case studies and discussions, participating ports exchanged ideas on smart operations, green and low-carbon transformation, supply chain coordination and talent training.

Zhu Miao, board director and general manager of Zhejiang Seaport Group and Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group, said the Multilateral Partner Ports initiative has promoted innovation, coordinated development and sustainable growth since its establishment in 2024. He expressed hope that the platform would continue contributing to a safer, smarter and more sustainable global shipping network.

The event also reviewed and approved the draft 2026 Multilateral Partner Ports Consensus. The document, together with a collection of notable cooperation case studies, was officially released at the forum's opening ceremony on May 27.
