Why international residents choose Ningbo

For many people living far from home, choosing a city is not just about its modern skyline or economic opportunities, but also the sense of security, convenience, and warmth found in everyday life. In Ningbo, a historic port city in East China, these qualities have helped attract and retain residents from around the world.
Romanian entrepreneur Duiu, who runs a food truck at Ningbo's Old Bund, says the city's strong sense of safety is one of the main reasons he chose to stay. After living in Shenzhen for seven years, he moved to Ningbo eight months ago and was quickly drawn to its rich cultural heritage, historic architecture, and welcoming atmosphere. He recalled accidentally leaving his phone at a restaurant, only to find it untouched when he returned 20 minutes later.
Convenience is another major attraction. Wei Hanquan, an Indonesian who has lived in Ningbo for a decade, praises the city's efficient public transportation system and digital services. From food delivery to mobile applications that simplify daily tasks, he says life in Ningbo is both comfortable and efficient.
Moroccan student Doha from Ningbo University also feels at ease in the city. She appreciates the well-lit streets, public security measures, and the kindness of local residents, who often go out of their way to help despite language barriers.
