New e-commerce air corridor links Vancouver, Guangzhou, and Ningbo
A new cross-border e-commerce air corridor linking Vancouver, Guangzhou, and Ningbo has been launched, adding a faster route for shipments into China's eastern coastal region.
A batch of apparel and footwear departed Vancouver, transferred through Guangzhou, and arrived in Ningbo on June 17 through connecting domestic flights. The goods cleared customs upon arrival under full supervision, using a streamlined transit process that allows shipments to move across multiple airports under a single declaration.
This system is part of China's air-to-air intermodal logistics model, which integrates international and domestic flights within a unified customs framework. By eliminating repeated warehousing, re-declaration, and secondary inspections during transit, the model is designed to improve efficiency and reduce handling time.
Logistics operators say the new corridor helps address long-standing bottlenecks in cross-border e-commerce supply chains, where limited direct routes and complex transshipment networks previously increased costs and extended delivery cycles.
Compared with traditional routing patterns that often involved longer detours across North America, the Vancouver-Guangzhou-Ningbo connection offers more flexible outbound options, particularly for goods originating in western Canada.
Industry estimates suggest the new route could reduce costs by up to 30 percent, depending on cargo type and routing conditions.
For consumers in China, the improved network is expected to shorten delivery times for imported goods, offering faster access to overseas products through a more efficient supply chain structure.
