Ningbo's Joyson Electronics unveils first in-house dexterous robot hand at WAIC 2026

Ningbo-based Joyson Electronics showcased its first self-developed TeleHand dexterous robot hand alongside a range of cutting-edge robotics solutions at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai.

Held from July 17 to 20, WAIC brought together global AI leaders to present the latest innovations in the industry and discuss the future of artificial intelligence.

Dexterous hands are essential for enabling robots to perform precise, human-like tasks. Joyson Electronics' new TeleHand series is designed to tackle tasks including tactile sensing, flexible manipulation and fine motor control.

The hand features the company's proprietary palm-integrated and hybrid-drive technology and offers 20 degrees of freedom, matching the size of a human hand for use in both industrial and service applications.

Its compact actuators are half the size of conventional designs, 30 percent lighter, and deliver two to three times higher torque density. The system also incorporates a self-developed electronic skin capable of highly sensitive three-dimensional force detection.

Joyson Electronics also introduced its third-generation AI robotic head, an embodied AI brain solution, and a hybrid solid-liquid battery pack that boosts operating range by 60 percent and can recharge to 80 percent capacity in just 30 minutes.

The company said it is accelerating the commercialization of embodied intelligence through both in-house innovation and strategic investment, with several of its robot technologies already deployed in industrial applications.
