Ningbo Port surpasses 1 trillion yuan in exports in H1

According to Ningbo Customs, Ningbo Port handled 1.42 trillion yuan ($209.73 billion) in imports and exports from January to June, up 7.1 percent year-on-year.
Exports reached 1.08 trillion yuan, rising 7.6 percent, while imports totaled 335.9 billion yuan, up 5.5 percent. In June alone, trade surged 19.2 percent, with exports jumping 25 percent.
Private enterprises remained the driving force behind trade, contributing 1.1 trillion yuan, or 77.4 percent of the total, and accounting for most of the port's overall trade growth.
Ningbo also strengthened its role as a regional logistics hub. Imports and exports by companies based outside Ningbo and handled through Ningbo Port climbed 10.1 percent to 916.96 billion yuan, accounting for nearly 90 percent of the port's overall trade growth.
The port continued to diversify its global markets. Trade with the European Union and ASEAN increased by 7.2 percent and 15.7 percent, respectively, while trade with the United States rebounded with 4 percent growth. Trade with Belt and Road partner countries rose 7 percent.
High-tech and green industries remained major growth engines. Exports of mechanical and electrical products rose 8.7 percent, while exports of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and solar cells jumped 25.4 percent. Electric vehicle exports doubled, highlighting the growing global competitiveness of China's new energy industries.
On the import side, crude oil imports rose 13 percent, while imports of metal ores and agricultural products also recorded steady growth.
