Zhejiang's largest liner company ships Chinese NEVs to Europe in 20 days

More than 5,400 new energy vehicles (NEVs) manufactured in East China were loaded onto the LNG dual-fuel roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessel Clean Star at the Meixi Ro-Ro Terminal of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port on Aug 5, marking the inaugural ro-ro service of Ningbo Ocean Shipping, Zhejiang's largest liner company.

The new route departs from Ningbo-Zhoushan Port and calls at Gioia Tauro in Italy and Barcelona in Spain, enabling the NEVs to reach the European Mediterranean market in around 20 days.

The service is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of NEV exports, expand Ningbo Ocean Shipping's business into the ro-ro transport sector, and extend its route network to continental Europe for the first time.

The 195.6-meter-long Clean Star has a capacity of about 7,000 standard vehicles and runs on LNG and conventional fuel, supporting greener and more sustainable shipping.

Leveraging Ningbo-Zhoushan Port's role as a strategic hub, Ningbo Ocean Shipping has expanded its routes across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas, covering more than 50 major ports in China and overseas. The launch of the Europe-bound ro-ro route marks another milestone in the company's international expansion, strengthening its vision of becoming a leading integrated shipping service provider in Asia with global connectivity.
