China injects capital into policy‑oriented financial bodies

China's Ministry of Finance is rolling out capital injections totaling 40 billion yuan ($5.96 billion) to bolster two key policy‑oriented financial entities, sharpening their capacity to serve the real economy and high‑level opening‑up, according to separate announcements by the two financial institutions on Sept 6.

The Export‑Import Bank of China, one of the country's major policy banks, will receive a 30‑billion‑yuan capital injection from the MOF. The capital boost will consolidate its capital base and underpin sustainable development. The capital boost will also scale up the bank's capital supply for the real economy and opening‑up drives, strengthen risk‑control resilience, and equip the lender to better deliver on its policy mandate and back major national strategies.

China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure), a national policy‑oriented insurance institution, will get a 10‑billion‑yuan capital top‑up. The capital replenishment is being advanced prudently following market‑oriented and law‑based principles, reflecting positive prospects for China's financial industry.

The move will lift Sinosure's core Tier‑1 capital, improve its solvency and underwriting capacity, and expand export‑credit insurance coverage, its statement said. It will also reinforce its medium‑ and‑long‑term financial sustainability and cash‑flow resilience, enabling the insurer to better execute its policy functions and support real‑economic activities.
