China's public budget revenue rises 5.7% in first 8 months

China's general public budget revenue rose 5.7 percent year-on-year to 15.66 trillion yuan ($2.33 trillion) in the first eight months of 2026, the Ministry of Finance said on Sept 18.

Tax revenue climbed 6.6 percent to 12.91 trillion yuan, while non-tax revenue edged up 1.5 percent to 2.75 trillion yuan, according to the ministry. Central government revenue grew 9.1 percent and local government revenue rose 3.1 percent.

The securities transaction stamp duty reached 216 billion yuan during the period, registering a year-on-year increase of 82 percent.

On the spending side, general public budget expenditure increased 1.2 percent to 18.15 trillion yuan.
