The 2026 Yangtze River Delta International Youth Film Festival will take place in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, from Oct 17 to 23, bringing together young filmmakers, industry professionals, and moviegoers for a week of screenings, forums, and cultural activities.
As China's first officially established film week dedicated to young filmmakers, the event will feature two major ceremonies and five program sections, including a film project incubation initiative, forums, screenings, and activities that combine film with other sectors.
A key highlight is the Youth Film Project Incubation Program, which has received 545 applications. Promising projects may be considered for investment by Zhejiang's provincial film industry fund, with potential investment reaching the 10-million-yuan level (about $1.5 million) per project.
The film week will also showcase Ningbo's deep ties to Chinese cinema through exhibitions, immersive film sets, and themed cultural tours. Special activities will take place at landmarks including Xiushui Street, Meishan Bay, and Hanling Old Street.
Audiences can enjoy 40 Chinese and international films across 10 cities in the Yangtze River Delta, with 187 screenings at 20 cinemas, alongside post-screening discussions with filmmakers.
Forums will explore emerging trends, including artificial intelligence in filmmaking, animation, and China-Africa exchanges among young filmmakers.
By connecting creative talent, technology, tourism, and consumer experiences, the event aims to nurture emerging filmmakers and strengthen collaboration across the regional film industry.
