Twenty-four Geely-branded electric vehicle battery packs returned from the United Kingdom and Malaysia entered a repair line at Ningbo Naitewei New Energy Vehicle Service on Oct 9, marking the launch of Zhejiang province's first bonded repair service for new energy vehicle power batteries at Ningbo Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
With the help of automated equipment, engineers are repairing damaged battery cells and battery management systems, providing overseas customers with a more efficient after-sales solution.
As electric vehicle exports continue to surge, demand for overseas maintenance services is growing. Ningbo Customs has helped introduce bonded repair services for power batteries, enabling companies to reduce costs and extend their industrial value chains.
The bonded repair model is expected to cut overall costs by 60 percent, while improving response times and customer experiences.
Once the project reaches full capacity, it is expected to repair up to 60,000 complete battery packs annually, serving 47 countries and regions across Southeast Asia, Europe, and beyond.
The new service is expected to fill a gap in bonded repair capacity for battery modules and attract more new energy vehicle industry resources to Ningbo.
