Young people from China, Russia, Turkiye, Sudan, and other countries explored Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on Oct 20 and 21, discovering the city's thriving maritime economy and centuries-old fishing culture through the "Hi China! My China Story" program.
Their journey began in the Chuanshan Port Area of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, one of the world's busiest ports, where they witnessed advanced container-handling facilities and smart port technologies. They also visited a submarine cable manufacturer, a major cold-chain logistics hub, and Ningbo University's Meishan campus to learn how marine technology, logistics, and education are driving the city's ocean economy.
The group then headed to Xiangshan county, where a former seafood processing plant has been transformed into a museum celebrating local fishing traditions. At the Ningbo Marine City for Youth Start-up, they explored emerging marine industries and the entrepreneurial energy behind the region's blue economy.
They also visited the Ningbo Xiangshan Sailing Center, where they admired the coastal scenery and learned about the integration of sports and tourism.
For Sudanese student Fu Fa, the trip offered valuable insights into how marine resources can connect local industries with global markets. Participants also shared ideas on marine economic development and international cooperation.
The program aims to turn their experiences into videos and other digital content, sharing Ningbo's stories and China's development with audiences around the world.
