Zhejiang outlines priorities for disability programs

Zhejiang province outlined priorities for advancing programs for people with disabilities and promoting common prosperity for people with disabilities during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30) at a conference in Hangzhou on Sept 22.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the province integrated programs for people with disabilities into its efforts to build a demonstration zone for common prosperity. It included assistance projects for people with disabilities in the provincial government's annual livelihood programs each year, while governments at all levels allocated 35.32 billion yuan ($5.27 billion) to disability programs.

Zhejiang also explored supported employment and technology-based assistance for people with disabilities. The province ranks among the country's leading provinces in social security, education and employment, and accessibility for people with disabilities.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the province will focus on improving social security and care services for people with disabilities, expanding technology-based assistance, and supporting employment and entrepreneurship. It will also work to ensure that people with disabilities benefit more from integrated basic public services.
